Weird SBS RWW problem with IE11
I had a client today that wanted access from home to his work PC and since he had SBS 2008 it should have been easy since Remote Web Workplace was already installed & configured. I went into the SBS console and gave him access to his PC and made sure everything for him was good to go for RWW.
Logging in as him worked fine, but he was completely missing the tab for “Connect to a Computer”!?!
So I checked and restarted everything, IIS, Services, SSL binding, Webpages and even re-ran some SBS network wizards to no avail.
Turns out it was a stupid IE11 compatibility setting. I went to the Gear –> Compatibility View Settings and added the site and voila it was back!
A little silly that this stops working in Microsoft’s own new browser, but at least I didn’t go about re-installing the SBS console before I figured it out.
