Another OneNote feature that is only available in the OneNote App is the “What’s New” button. When I lived my entire OneNote experience in OneNote 2016 (and 2013), I was missing out on all the New Features only being released in the OneNote App. Take a look:
Click on the hamburger (or pancake stack) icon.
Click on the “Settings” button in the Notebooks pane that pops out.
In the Settings pane click on the “About” button.
In the About section click on the “What’s New” button.
A popup will appear listing any items that are recently New in the OneNote App. At this time (July 2016), you can see the Ink effects features was recently added to the OneNote App – available only to those that are paid Office 365 subscribers .
