On December 1st, 2014, a colleague of mine posted the following in our itgroove Corporate Yammer Network:
“Kelly, When I can use Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V to drop images right in this box, then Yammer might win over Outlook.”
I get it. Having to save an image to the desktop then upload it to a location before being able to use it is a pain. The extra steps are a key detractor why many people stick with Outlook emails to share information and why many people don’t get into SharePoint Wiki pages.
WARNING: shameless plug for my favourite Office program in 3-2-1: Programs like Microsoft OneNote eliminate all these extra steps, allowing you to insert a screen clipping, cut/paste an image, or drag and drop an image directly onto a page.
At the time (Dec 2014) Yammer required you to click on the paperclip icon to browse to upload a file from your computer. See:
Fortunately, now you can drag and drop a file into Yammer! Select a file on your desktop then click and hold down the left button on your mouse to drag the file into the field – works both with new posts and replies to existing posts. See:
It’s still not as simple as a cut-and-paste (Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V), but it’s progress that I am stoked on!
