How to Trim a Video in Microsoft Stream

I am stoked on this. I didn’t realize this feature was here (or that it was THAT useful) until I recorded a meeting where I gave step-by-step instructions on how to do something and forgot to stop the recording before my coworker and I launched into irrelevant chit chat.

One thing to keep in mind is that video recorded that is trimmed is permanently deleted.

Here is how:

  1. Click on My Content from menu
  2. Select Videos
  3. Locate video you want to trim and click on three dots More menu to open the junk drawer.
  4. Click Trim video.

To trim the video:

  1. Drag the player head to the point you want. Note: There is a tiny play button below the video image if you want to watch to confirm you’ve found the correct point.
  2. Use the Set trim start point or Set trim end point button.
  3. Apply the changes.

Another tip if you want to turn a single recording into a series of shorter recordings:

Download a copy of the video so you can reupload it and trim the video recording into several segments for a series.
