I presented the following today at the first (of many monthly) Office 365 User Group meeting in Victoria. It seemed natural that after talking about Office 365 and Office Online, it made sense to share the slide deck embedded via PowerPoint Online.

What A friend (let’s call him “Barney”) recently discovered something that might freak others out, much like it did to him, briefly. And I thought I should do a quick public service here as I have no doubt it will come to a surprise to others. He was on his Office 365 (well, rather, SharePoint …

I had a play with Sparkol Videoscribe the other day. Neat tool and a unique way to get short messages across – i.e. a picture is worth a thousand words. I put the following together. Using the tool was pretty straightforward after watching the demo’s. That said, don’t sit down to noodle until you have …
Read onWord, PowerPoint and Excel available for the iPad. And in Canada on day one for once as well!

As a big SharePoint fan and recently self-diagnosed Bob Ross of SharePoint, I’ve been watching and actively participating in Microsoft’s swift transition of key software and services into the Cloud. While BPOS was great, the name didn’t exactly mean much to customers. But with the words “Cloud” and “Office 365”, interest is increasing rapidly and …
Read onOh Man. Connect to Outlook is disabled/unavailable
Ran into this the other day. “Connect to Outlook” was unavailable (greyed out/disabled) in a new SharePoint 2013 farm. Often you’d see this if you are using an unsupported browser in previous versions of SharePoint (Firefox, Chrome, etc. was an IE ‘only’ thang). The quick solution in our case was to deactivate the “Minimal Download …

Read onSome more justification for the SharePoint Enterprise CAL
Sigh. I’m being lazy again. Here is an email I sent tonight to a client who was looking for justification on whether going from SharePoint Standard to Enterprise for about 80 people was worth the investment and why. Here was my reply in case it helps others. Hey (name changed to protect the innocent) As …
