Outlook 2010 Autocorrect Options greyed out

This is a silly one, but I did run into it at at customer. They had MS Office 2010 Student installed and then they installed a copy of Outlook 2010 after the fact. Apparently if you have two versions of Office 2010 installed (or some Upgrade scenarios) some of the integration tools cannot function. Simple fix below:

Copy Winword.exe from here C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice12 To C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice14

Thanks to Louis for this one!

  1. Holy Cow!! perfect. I had to copy Winword.exe from office15 to office14 because I use office2013 except for Outlook due to Google Apps Sync.
Worked perfectly. Thank you so much.

  2. Brilliant! After a lot of searching this has saved me a bundle. I have Office 2007 with Outlook 2013 and so had to copy Winword.exe into Outlook15. Restart Outlook and off you go!
    Thanks so much.

  3. Unfortunately this does not always work. It worked for me 9/10 times however I’m straggling to get it working on one 1 pc – autocorrection is working but options are still greyed out

  4. So this worked at first. But now even though there is a Winword.exe still in my Outlook file these items are still greyed out.

  5. Ok so I am not into technology to say the least. I’m sure this is very simple but I don’t know what Winword.exe is, Where to find it or how to execute this change.
