I’m just taking a moment to come up for air from a busy weekend of planning, answering business and personal technical questions as folks adjust to being at home and self-medicating (once the coke is gone tonight, the rum and cokes need to stop!). As we expect to be extra busy this week while businesses reach out for help to get themselves back online, we’re going to dial it back to 2 this week (though I might still go rogue and do a few in my own time – let me know what info you need folks, I’m here to help).

Monday
On Monday, the tool I decided to cover was “Beautiful.ai” which is a rich and easy to use storytelling tool – the ‘anti-PowerPoint’ as it were. If you need to get folks attention right now, you can do it easily and beautifully with this amazing tool. This was also my first crack at using a nifty new webinar tool called “Livestorm” so please be gentle as you watch – I’ve been learning as I go. Yep, I’m a pretty casual guy. Ain’t changing who I am. Accept it. 🙂
We’re sharing one of our favorite tools, Beautiful.ai, a modern presentation tool with free options to get you started. We love it because it makes presentations engaging with beautiful stock photo libraries, and color palate options to easily keep you on brand.

Tuesday
On Tuesday, I went right for the good stuff. SharePoint. Anyone that knows me knows I’ve been a SharePoint guy for a LONG TIME. And these days when I get the question, “should I use Teams or SharePoint”, my answer is “sorry, but it is Teams AND SharePoint“.
In this overview, I show how easy it is to create a SharePoint Communications Site to get information to your people quickly and easily. I cover creating a communications site, sharing it appropriately for the right audiences, adding some content and web parts and a few other best practices that are often overlooked.

Wednesday
On Wednesday, the team thought it would be good idea to share (and I agree):
- How to initiate a Microsoft Teams meeting – both “meet now” and by scheduling a meeting appointment, and then discuss some of the various options and capabilities within a Microsoft Teams meeting space
- Conduct a meeting, where we check in with each other and talk about how this whole crazy time is impacting us right now, to help keep it real

Thursday
On Thursday I went for OneNote. It has been around forever but I’m still amazed at how often we are still introducing (it seems even daily) the idea of anywhere, anytime, on anything, rich and digitized note-taking. There was a time where I over-used OneNote, and I do see that with newbies today that glom on to it and only use it and I do my best to try and point out where it is awesome and where/when you might want to add it to your personal toolkit but not have it become the only tool in your toolkit.

Friday
On Friday, I went for another powerful tool in my “anti-email” toolkit. Techsmith Snagit. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t use this tool. I’ll all about clear, concise communications … mostly because I don’t like to repeat myself and I don’t want email chains to live on forever because folks don’t understand the point I’m trying to convey. So I share an overview of the tool and a few useful things I’ve picked up along the way.

Easily provide directions with step by step labels, or just clip something from a page, and share it instantly with the document library.
