Man I love me some OneNote. And every time I notice the client in iOS gets updated, I just have to have a look. This week, Microsoft introduced version 2.2 and pretty much only pointed out that it was “beautifully redesigned for iOS 7”. I need to agree, as some of the attributes of the look and feel, while not vastly different, do make it look that much sharper. For all the details about OneNote, go to www.onenote.com.

But Microsoft snuck in a few other (and very welcome) goodies…
These include…
Improved sharing options. In the past, I could send a PDF or share the entire notebook. Now, finally, we can do discreet sharing and it is aware of whether the notebook is in OneDrive or on SharePoint and offers different options (for example, in OneDrive you can quickly/easily do a read only or read/write share with someone). This is HUGE for me.
Further to that, they snuck in some searching refinements as well. This is also welcome, particularly now that I’ve got quite a number of notebooks going.

I’m sure you’ve already read the news too that OneNote is out for the Mac and it is free. WOW! When I had my MacBook, really one of the things that kept pushing me back to Windows was OneNote (and the rest of Office but those were less important – as business tools, for me, OneNote is a LIFE tool). So if you have a MAC, go and get it now. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-onenote/id784801555?mt=12 Evernote doesn’t hold a candle to it … and I’ve given it a fair shake more than a few times.
Finally, another thing they’ve snuck in with little fanfare (crafty…) is the ability to send emails directly to OneNote. I never used this much in EverNote so I’m not sure how much mileage I’ll get out of it, but it was a missing link, that is missing no more.
