Microsoft is sure churning out the apps for iPad/iPhone and other mobile devices. This time it is OWA (Outlook Web Access) for iPhone/iPad
The Good
- I don’t love using the iPhone/iPad mail client to connect to Exchange/ActiveSync. It gets the job done, but it isn’t “great”
- Slick/Tidy/Clean. It’s all “Metro, er, Windows 8 UI, er, Modern UI”
The Gripes
- I still can’t fathom how Office Web Apps (OWA) got named when Outlook Web Access (OWA) for Exchange had at least a decade head start. Seriously, no other acronym was possible?
- Sadly, OWA for iPad/iPhone is only if you are connecting to Exchange on Office 365. No on premise support (yet anyways, remains to be seen if on premise is coming but with this one, I wouldn’t count on it … Microsoft is “All In” with the cloud so these are some of the ‘hooks’ that will continue to be used to drive business that way)
The Screenshots
Have a look. It’s pretty.
