Lync 2013 Client for Mobile – Cart before horse

Heads up in case you come across this…

What

So you’ve just installed the new Lync 2013 Mobile client (iOS, Android and possibly Windows 8) and you get the following error (You can’t sign in with this version of Lync. Please install Lync 2010).

Ya, I was excited too, to see it in the Canadian App store today.  As I type this, I think Jeremy is scurrying away upgrading us to CU1. Sweet… 😉

So What

Lame. Cart meet horse. Horse meet … hahaha horse meat. Squirrel!

Problem is that:

1. This new client doesn’t only require Lync 2013 on the server backend, it requires the first set of Cumulative Updates too (CU’s)
2. This also applies to Office 365. Unless your tenant has been upgraded to Lync 2013, you’ll have the same issue with that too

Now What

Gear down big rig. Stick with the old client until you have Lync 2013 Server with CU1 or your Office 365 Tenant has been upgraded to version 15 (2013)
