Canada Day Present–New OneNote 2.0 for iPad released

Kick Ass and Happy Canada Day, eh?

I woke up, the sun was shining, birds were tweeting (can we use that term about birds still?) and low and behold, my iPad and iPhone App stores were telling me I had a new present waiting for me.

Yep, OneNote for iPad/iPhone (and Android) has received a MAJOR update and reset – version 2.0!  So here we go…

Evernote, I hardly knew ye … and never really liked ye…

What

I was pretty bummed at first, when the Office Apps for iPhone came out.  Where was the new and improved OneNote?  Well, here it is, it just took a couple of extra days to arrive (perhaps staggered on purpose Winking smile).  OneNote for iPhone, iPad and Android received a major update today.

So What

So what’s new?  Well, a bunch of stuff really.  For me, I care most about:

  • The improved interface – lots there
  • The improved functionality (Tables, etc.)
  • Most recently used notebooks sync across devices (ya!)
  • But most importantly, the fact I can now connect to my on premise SharePoint and Office 365 is Huge!!!  I have some Notebooks on Skydrive and that is all well and good, but I “Collaborate” in SharePoint with my peers and not having the app integration was killing me.  No more.  Quite chuffed we get this today

Microsoft has their full announcement here for iPhone/iPad and here for Android.  Lots of screenshots there to fill your boots. That said, I took a few of my own quick, so I might as well not have them go to waste…

Metro, er, Modern UI ready… can’t wait for the “I don’t want it to be Purple” update though…

Now What

Go get it brothers and sisters.  Note, in the App Store it suggests OneNote is free for a limited time only (it was free before but for up to 500 notes – that appears to be gone, but perhaps they will be charging for it in the future – get it in your account now!)

Happy Note taking. Might even get Wendy on board this time Winking smile
