Now where did I put those PowerPivot DMP files?

In Central Admin today, I was reviewing “problems and solutions” and discovered we were having a little bit of grief with PowerPivot.

PowerPivot: One or more minidump files were found in the Logs directory, indicating a program crash

 

I did read the details it gave me but I guess being an “old Windows guy”, when I see “DMP”, I assume there are going to be files with a .DMP extension.  Not so old guy, it turns out, so it took a minute to find them.

So where are PowerPivot DMP Files (by default)?

You will find them with a “ppdt” extension in the following location:

C:Program FilesCommon Filesmicrosoft sharedWeb Server Extensions15LOGS

I reviewed them, nuked them and updated my health records.  Next!
