If there was ever a blog post to start with, regarding the vision of SharePoint 2013, you should at least read Jeff Teper’s post (straight from the top man): http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blog/Pages/BlogPost.aspx?pID=1012.
If you read between the lines…
- Search and Find’ability is more important than ever as is Social and the SharePoint team has invested in that.
- SharePoint is best used “out of the box” (don’t strive to “make SharePoint not look like SharePoint”, which sounds familiar
- When coding, DEV –> UAT –> Production (this shouldn’t be new, but I’m glad Jeff took the time to reinforce it). *Test your code!!*
- Governance Matters. Yep, still.
- Microsoft learned a tonne about SharePoint, by hosting it. As such, we are getting a leaner, meaner, faster and more stable build, in less time because they now have to support it as well – they have “users” – millions of ‘em .
- Tasks and Project Management – integration will be even better now, out of the box. Awesome.
