Blogging on an iPhone or iPad (iOS) to a SharePoint Blog
I’ve been meaning to write this post for about 8 months but for one reason or another, I keep forgetting to do it (and once you see how short this post is, you’ll wonder why it took so long, too).
Anyways, 8+ months ago I was on the hunt for a good blog writing app for my iPhone and iPad that would allow me to blog to SharePoint. I tried a bunch (some paid, some free) and had pretty much failures at every turn. None that I could find blogged reliably to SharePoint blogs using the MetaWeblog API.
However, it occurred to me one day that I had kind of assumed my favourite SharePoint iPad/iPhone App, SharePlus, might have a solution – and sure enough, it works a treat. So I figured today I’d take a second to illustrate the blogging experience, to a SharePoint Blog, using SharePlus on my New iPad. I skipped showing you to connect to SharePoint using SharePlus as that task is pretty trivial and I was too lazy to blow away my config and look up my password.
I don’t own an Android, Blackberry or Windows Mobile Device so I can’t say for certain that SharePlus treats all of these devices as equals in the blogging department, but my guess is the functionality below is similar on those devices as well. But without testing it, I won’t go so far as to change the title to read “Blogging to SharePoint from any Mobile Device”

Creating a New Blog Post using SharePlus
Adding a new post is a one click operation
Updating the post details is painless
Look Ma! Rich text editing and adding pictures is a breeze (man I love that truck – the Ford Raptor)
There is an HTML mode if you want to get picky…
Finally, reviewing through past posts without waiting for page refreshes, etc. is cool tool.
Hi Sean,
An interesting use of Shareplus!
I’ve been doing reviews of the different mobile applications that work with SharePoint on my blog: http://chrisjhowell.wordpress.com/reviews/ but looking at them more from the collaboration point of view.
I’ve always been impressed with Shareplus and this is yet another use for the application.
Thanks for sharing!
Chris
Just like you, I was looking for a way to blog to my sharepoint my-sites for the longest time until I encountered your article here.
I almost teared with joy. I had SharePlus for years, and I never realized that I could use the app as a blog platform.
I’d like to find a way to share a page from Safari by using the share button at the bottom of the page. Any thoughts? Either way thank you for this post. Take care.
