SharePoint 2010 Adobe PDF iFilter integration instructions that work

Nice, concise and works. This is relevant to SharePoint Server 2010. Note, at this writing, Foundation is not supported with PDF (see bullets below).

Subject to change: Why SharePoint Foundation can’t do PDF Search

I’m still seeking official clarification but at this time…

• Support for iFilters are not available in SharePoint Foundation 2010 – reference: See Visio Diagram http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d7c0091e-5766-496d-a5fe-94bea52c4b15&displaylang=en
• SharePoint Search Server Express does support iFilters – but cannot be installed on the same server as Foundation – reference: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee808898.aspx
