How to set your dates in a SharePoint Blog to Metric style – or rather, the hack I found

Here was my customers requirement. They wanted all blog posts on a public SharePoint site to be in the date/time style of 2010-03-30, which they described as Metric. While there may be a better way to do this (I’m no date expert), the only way I could accomplish this was to do the following:

For the site intended (a blog in SharePoint is a site, so the blog site), I had:

1. Gone into site settings
2. Click on Regional Settings
3. Chose French (Canada) as the region

While our site isn’t French, this has had no negative impact and provided the customer with the desired result. Comments welcomed if I should be picking a different locale, but that one did the trick for me.
