I do this all the time (I’m all about keeping my Inbox tidy). If I have received an email (in Outlook) that specifies a date/time for a meeting or appointment, I simply drag that email onto my calendar and voila – it creates a new appointment with the body containing the contents of the email thread (which frankly, usually contains the basics of an agenda for that meeting). This way, I can now destroy the email in my inbox (and enjoy the satisfaction of it being one message smaller).
As for one of my other rants about managing your inbox, read more here.
Here’s the process:
- Drag an email onto your calendar to make an appointment of it (with all the details)
- Then destroy the email (clear out that inbox!)

… and hey, this applies to tasks as well.
