When you create a new item in SharePoint, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, the “!New” icon appears (in green), like this:
The default is that this icon appears for 48 hours (2 days). However, if you aren’t happy with the duration, you can change it.
To get the current duration of the !New icon:
stsadm -o getproperty -propertyname days-to-show-new-icon -url http://blog.brainlitter.com:80
And to change the duration of the !New icon (say, to 7 days):
stsadm -o setproperty -propertyname days-to-show-new-icon -propertyvalue 7 -url http://blog.brainlitter.com:80
