Windows Server 2008 Annoyance – How to turn off Internet Explorer Enhanced Security

Argh, had to figure out how to turn off IE Security, just to access a basic, and common trusted site. While I like what Microsoft is trying to do, they are doing it in a horrific way, as usual…

 

So, if you’ve got this…

Do this…

1. Open Server Manager

2. Expand to Server Summary, Security Information

3. Choose Configure IE ESC

4. Turn off the IE Security configuration, for Administrators

Ideally, you’ll turn it back on, when it isn’t needed, as a safety measure, but my gut says this will be very obtrusive and we need to always be careful. As always, NEVER set a default home page in IE on servers, always leave it to use ‘BLANK’.
