0x80070005 issue Activating Office 365
I often run into this activation issue at clients and the first thing they always check is their Office 365 Licensing portal. If you are on the right plan Microsoft Office should be activated when you download and install it from the portal. So it’s a little odd when it stars complaining and running the activation just gives you the error below.
“We’re sorry, something went wrong and we can’t do this for you right now. Please try again later. ( 0x80070005 )”.
This is usually due to the user not having sufficient admin rights to activate the software. I usually give the user temporary admin rights on the workstation and then run the software as an administrator. You may get the red bar in the program until it activates, but it should go away on its own after you restart the software.
