The “New Way” to Deactivate Directory Synchronization<\/h2>\n

Pretty much everything with regards to managing Directory Synchronization still exists in the new Admin Center, including really cool “at a glance” reporting features from the main page. But what happened to the “deactivate synchronization”?<\/p>\n

The answer = Use PowerShell<\/p>\n

When you need to “deactivate” directory synchronization perform the following:<\/p>\n

Connect to MSOL services<\/p>\n

$credential = Get-Credential “”
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Import-Module MsOnline
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Connect-MsolService -Credential $credential
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Deactivate Directory Synchronization<\/p>\n

Set-MsolDirSyncEnabled \u2013EnableDirSync $false
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Check the status of Directory Synchronization (This could take up to 72 hours to return the result you are expecting to see)<\/p>\n

(Get-MSOLCompanyInformation).DirectorySynchronizationEnabled
