Scenario:<\/h3>\n

Dell PE T320<\/p>\n

OS: Windows 2012 running Hyper-V configured with 1 VM<\/p>\n

VM: Windows SBS Server 2011<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Issue:<\/h3>\n

For no apparent reason the SBS 2011 VM randomly spikes CPU to 100% and remains at this level.  There is NO set identified processing culprit.  Usage is all over the map between multiple, random processes.<\/p>\n

Rebooting the VM does not fix the issue.  Rebooting the Host does not fix the issue.<\/p>\n

Possible fix found:<\/h3>\n

Found  a few forum threads that talked about this exact same issue and multiple users (vm\u2019s) affected.  The accepted FIX for this appeared to be:<\/p>\n

1) update all required FW for the Host<\/p>\n

2) MOST Importantly set the System Profile Settings in the BIOS from \u201cPerformance Per Watt Optimized (DAPC) to Performance Optimized.<\/p>\n

Performance Per Watt Optimized (DAPC)<\/h4>\n

<\/em> \u2013 When this mode is selected, BIOS sets the CPU Power Management as System DBPP. )<\/p>\n

Performance Optimized<\/h4>\n

\u2013 Under this mode, the CPU Power Management field is set to Performance and allow the BIOS to program the processor for maximum performance state.<\/p>\n
