{"id":384,"date":"2015-01-22T00:11:42","date_gmt":"2015-01-22T00:11:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/stellark\/?p=384"},"modified":"2023-02-24T19:11:26","modified_gmt":"2023-02-24T19:11:26","slug":"how-to-export-a-users-office-365-email-with-powershell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/stellark\/2015\/01\/22\/how-to-export-a-users-office-365-email-with-powershell\/","title":{"rendered":"How to copy a users Office 365 email with PowerShell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is a simple method of \u201cmoving\u201d a users email from their Office 365 account to a \u201cTarget Folder\u201d in another users account using PowerShell.&nbsp; If you are unable to access their email in any other way this will work well.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly ensure the user connecting to Exchange Online is a member of the Discovery Management Group.&nbsp; Certain PowerShell cmdlets are NOT available otherwise.&nbsp; For example Search-Mailbox<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/stellark\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/01\/image3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-top: 0px;padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/stellark\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/01\/image_thumb3.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"294\" height=\"92\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Connect to Exchange Online with PowerShell<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>$UserCredential = Credential <a href=\"mailto:someone@someplace.com\">someone@someplace.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>$Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri <a href=\"https:\/\/outlook.office365.com\/powershell-liveid\/\">https:\/\/outlook.office365.com\/powershell-liveid\/<\/a> -Credential $UserCredential -Authentication Basic -AllowRedirection<br \/>\nImport-PSSession $Session<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Run the below script to search and copy over mail from user A to user B<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Search-Mailbox -Identity &#8220;user A&#8221; -TargetMailbox &#8220;user B&#8221; -TargetFolder &#8220;inbox&#8221; -LogLevel Full<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/stellark\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/01\/image4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-top: 0px;padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/stellark\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/01\/image_thumb4.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"526\" height=\"65\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If, on the other hand, you do have access to their Office 365 OWA account then simply login, right click the top level folder and choose permissions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/stellark\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/01\/image5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-top: 0px;padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;border-width: 0px\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/stellark\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/01\/image_thumb5.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"163\" height=\"422\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Proceed to add the user who requires permissions and select permission level.&nbsp; The users mailbox will show up in the target users mail profile at which point they can then choose to export to .pst<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/stellark\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/01\/image6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-top: 0px;padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;border-width: 0px\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/stellark\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/01\/image_thumb6.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"283\" height=\"357\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; This is a simple method of \u201cmoving\u201d a users email from their Office 365 account to a \u201cTarget Folder\u201d in another users account using PowerShell.&nbsp; If you are unable to access their email in any other way this will work well.
