If I don&#8217;t use a trick every day I tend to forget the steps and find myself straining to remember and end up wasting a bunch of time on Google looking for an answer. I managed to train myself to remember this keyboard shortcut by sticking a paper post-it to my monitor so it was literally in my face for 30 days straight. Now I don&#8217;t need to look it up.<\/p>\n<p>Before I learned this trick, I needed at least five mouse clicks to reach the same result. Now right clicking on a piece of highlighted text to insert a hyperlink seems about as effective as banging two rocks together. I can only speculate that I&#8217;ve saved myself HOURS of wasted time since I learned this shortcut on July 11, 2014 via the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Office\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@Office Twitter feed<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/09\/tweet-ctrl-k.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-766\" src=\"http:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/09\/tweet-ctrl-k.png\" alt=\"tweet-ctrl-k\" width=\"595\" height=\"421\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To insert a hyperlink without touching your mouse:<\/p>\n<p>1. Make sure you have the\u00a0URL you want to insert on\u00a0your clipboard.<\/p>\n<p>2. Use SHIFT + right or left arrow keys to highlight text.<\/p>\n<p>3.
