Data lose is scary, and data recovery is a headache. I&#8217;m lucky to be surrounded (<em>literally<\/em>)\u00a0by a team of Technology Consultants who can assist if I run into trouble. The average end user does not. I always try to troubleshoot before I call in the &#8220;big guns&#8221; to help me out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/07\/OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-01.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-604\" src=\"http:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/07\/OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-01.png\" alt=\"OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-01\" width=\"286\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I popped opened up the list\u00a0icons in my task bar (via the upward facing arrow) to take a look. Double clicking on the dark blue cloud icon opened up my SkyDrive Pro aka OneDrive for Business.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">Why is my OneDrive for Business still called SkyDrive Pro? (Good question, but not one I&#8217;m going to address in this blog post.)<\/p>\n<p>So yes, I quickly saw the folder that contained the offending file via the big red X icon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/07\/OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-02.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-603\" src=\"http:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/07\/OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-02.png\" alt=\"OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-02\" width=\"1055\" height=\"503\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nIt was peculiar that there was only a single file that was not syncing correctly.\u00a0 I knew it wasn&#8217;t an issue of space, as I had added other files recently and they uploaded to the cloud without issue. There was a big clue staring me in the face, but it wasn&#8217;t until I opened the file that I realized what was going on.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/07\/OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-03.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-605\" src=\"http:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/07\/OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-03.png\" alt=\"OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-03\" width=\"1050\" height=\"1068\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>Ah ha! Invalid characters! \u00a0<\/em>An <strong>ampersand<\/strong> (&amp;) is\u00a0a special character, and has no place in a file name. (<em>Tisk tisk Hubspot<\/em>!)<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately this is an easy fix. Right click on the file, then\u00a0select Rename from the context menu, and finally replace the ampersand with a non-special character.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/07\/OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-05.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-599\" src=\"http:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/07\/OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-05.png\" alt=\"OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-05\" width=\"348\" height=\"459\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/07\/OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-06.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-600\" src=\"http:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/07\/OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-06.png\" alt=\"OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-06\" width=\"777\" height=\"163\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>OneDrive for Business (SkyDrive Pro) will respond within seconds. Note the red X icon has changed to a blue sync icon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/07\/OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-07.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-601\" src=\"http:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/07\/OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-07.png\" alt=\"OneDrive-Biz-sync-issue-07\" width=\"772\" height=\"167\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There we go.
