The focus of the class was on transitioning from Office 2003 to Office 2013 so I answered what I could in the time available, but felt the need to whip up a more detailed series of blog posts when I was back in the office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question # 1 &#8211; Which Windows operating system am I running?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I could start rattling off a list of visual clues (and I may in a future post) I could also offer an (in my opinion) overly technical Run Command process that would make my boss Sean\u2019s eye light up with delight.<\/p>\n<p>But <strong>the fastest way to tell what Windows operating system your machine is running<\/strong> is to visit this website: <a href=\"http:\/\/windows.microsoft.com\/en-ca\/windows\/which-operating-system\">http:\/\/windows.microsoft.com\/en-ca\/windows\/which-operating-system<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yes, I already\u00a0shared this tip in a previous blog post titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/how-to-find-out-which-windows-operating-system-you-have\/\">How to Find Out Which Windows Operating System You Have<\/a>\u201d \u2026 so why am I repeating myself?<\/p>\n<p>Because as you can see, my machine is running Windows 8\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/06\/windows-8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-550\" src=\"http:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/06\/windows-8.png\" alt=\"windows-8\" width=\"925\" height=\"396\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u2026 and it&#8217;s time to upgrade to Windows 8.1.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Not being on the latest version is not always the end of the world \u2013 but my colleague <a href=\"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/meet-the-team\/colin-phillips\/\">Colin Phillips<\/a> sent me <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/windows-8-1-consumers-its-time-to-move-to-update-1-7000030378\/\">this article yesterday<\/a> to \u201cpoke the bear\u201d because it\u2019s past June 10th \u2013 so I\u2019m now \u201cat risk\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Another reason I\u2019ll be upgrading this weekend is because I can\u2019t get IE 11 without upgrading to Windows 8.1 \u2013 and every time I try to edit pages in SharePoint Online my IE 10 browser acts up.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>How Do I Upgrade to Windows 8.1?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The \u201cWhich Windows operating system am I running?\u201d website comes with a link (at the bottom of the page) to upgrade to Windows 8.1 <strong>for free<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/06\/windows-8-upgrade.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-549\" src=\"http:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/06\/windows-8-upgrade.png\" alt=\"windows-8-upgrade\" width=\"1091\" height=\"51\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At a recent training session, a number of questions came up about Windows 8.
