Assigning tasks to others from within\u00a0OneNote enables a user to quickly delegate without having to open Outlook or toggle between the\u00a0programs. OneNote opens a window so you can create a new task directly from\u00a0within Outlook. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Type out task in OneNote on a page.<\/li>\n
  2. Use Outlook Tasks to create a Custom Task<\/li>\n
  3. You will see \u201cAssign Task\u201d button in your Task Tab in the Manage Task Group.<\/li>\n
  4. Type the person\u2019s email address in the To Field.<\/li>\n
  5. Set Start Date, End Date and Priority.<\/li>\n
  6. Keep two checkboxes selected:
    \na. \u201cKeep an updated copy of this task on my task list\u201d
    \nb. \u201cSend me a status report when this task is complete\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If you want to change the assigned Outlook task from within OneNote, right click on the red flag to access the menu – select Custom to make edits, or you can select Open the Task in Outlook…
    \n(both options open\u00a0windows\u00a0that contain the exact same set of Tabs, Groups, and Commands)<\/em>.<\/p>\n

    To the best of my knowledge (without testing in\u00a0every single environment), the\u00a0functionality is available<\/strong><\/em> in the desktop versions of OneNote\u00a02007, 2010 and\u00a02013, because it is available in\u00a0 the desktop versions Outlook\u00a02007, 2010 and\u00a02013.<\/p>\n

    And it appears, that you cannot<\/strong> <\/em>assign tasks in Outlook Web App (yet<\/strong><\/em>). (That functionality is likely on its way.)<\/em><\/p>\n
