But many go on to the question of &#8216;how do I remove ads from Outlook.com&#8217;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><em><strong>Want help setting this up?<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/oh365eh\/2017\/09\/15\/tips-setting-outlook-com-email-access-free-web-based-productivity-tools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Read this blog post for instructions<\/strong><\/a> and a couple of setup tips.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Most Microsoft users people don&#8217;t realize that you also get access to a stack of <strong>free <a href=\"https:\/\/thelogorepo.com\/\">web-based tools<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;including<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>an address book, a task list, multiple calendars, photo and file storage, and office tools that let you write word documents, edit spreadsheets, create presentations, and store notes &#8211; for no extra fees.<\/p>\n<p>You can then use your @outlook.com or @hotmail.com login to access:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/09\/Outlook-Sign-Up-Login-GIF.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2674\" src=\"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/09\/Outlook-Sign-Up-Login-GIF.gif\" alt=\"How to remove ads on Outlook.\" width=\"479\" height=\"327\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Inside your email inbox, you can click on the App Switcher that looks like a waffle to also get access to your own:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Calendar(s)<\/li>\n<li>Address Book (&#8220;People&#8221;)<\/li>\n<li>Storage for Files and Photos (&#8220;OneDrive&#8221;)<\/li>\n<li>Tasks<\/li>\n<li>Office Tools (&#8220;Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Sway&#8221;)<\/li>\n<li>Instant Messaging Text and Video Chat (&#8220;Skype&#8221;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Online-Apps.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2666\" src=\"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Online-Apps.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"307\" height=\"608\" srcset=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Online-Apps.png 485w, https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Online-Apps-152x300.png 152w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 307px) 100vw, 307px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sound too good to be true? Assume there surely must be a catch?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well, yeah, there is. Free is awesome, but there is a big, intrusive, visually irritating catch.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Catch: Inbox Advertisements<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Microsoft sell advertising space to keep Outlook free for the user.<\/p>\n<p>When you login to your Outlook email, you will see ads in the far right panel. See:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Ads.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2667\" src=\"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Ads.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1177\" height=\"634\" srcset=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Ads.png 1177w, https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Ads-300x162.png 300w, https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Ads-1024x552.png 1024w, https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Ads-768x414.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1177px) 100vw, 1177px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And the ad will change each time the page refreshes. I&#8217;ve seen ads for Microsoft, Jeep, SurveyMoney, Duracell, and more&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Now I&#8217;m NOT a fan of ads, especially when I&#8217;m trying to focus and compose an email.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>So how do you get rid of the ads in Outlook.com?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Well up until this point, I assumed there was only three options:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Microsoft MVPs can ask for their free code.<\/li>\n<li>Home users (&#8216;Consumer&#8217;) can&nbsp;purchase an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/products.office.com\/en-ca\/office-365-home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Office 365 Home subscription<\/a>&nbsp;for $100+\/year.<\/li>\n<li>Business user can purchase an <a href=\"https:\/\/products.office.com\/en-ca\/business\/office-365-business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Office 365 Business subscription<\/a>&nbsp;for $150+\/year.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now the downside of purchasing an Office 365 subscription is you have to setup a brand new email address. For example, mine is:&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:kelly@oh365eh.onmicrosoft.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">kelly@oh365eh.onmicrosoft.com&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>What do you do if you want to remove ads from Outlook <\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">and<\/span>&nbsp;keep your Outlook email address?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There are<strong> two other options.<\/strong> Neither is free, but they are<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>both less expensive than signing up for Office 365. <em>(Although IMO there&#8217;s way more value for your dollar with an O365 subscription.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So let&#8217;s check them out:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Ad-Free Outlook.com&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Outlook.com Premium&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You can read what Microsoft has to say about these tools to remove ads in Outlook on their website: &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/Outlook-com-Premium-and-Ad-free-Outlook-com-b949a6d1-aeb4-4a9f-9766-a5038ea812fe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Outlook.com Premium and Ad-free Outlook.com<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>The one thing that was not transparent was how much each of these cost. Ad-Free Outlook.com made me enter my VISA details just to see the price, so I went through that head ache for y&#8217;all so you can just read the Cliff Notes here:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What are the key differences?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Ad-Free Outlook.com:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep the exact same email address.<\/li>\n<li>Ideal for one (1) person.<\/li>\n<li>Comes with 10 GB of Outlook.com email account storage<\/li>\n<li><strong>Annual subscription:<\/strong>&nbsp;$30\/year + tax.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Outlook.com Premium:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep the exact same email address.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Annual subscription: <\/strong>$75\/year + tax<\/li>\n<li><strong>Note (9\/15\/2017) &#8211;<\/strong>&nbsp;It looks like there is a discount on right now and it is only $30\/year? No clue if this is a one-time deal, a month long promo, or what&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an example of what the bill would look like if you buy a one-year subscription:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Premium.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2684\" src=\"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Premium.png\" alt=\"How to get rid of Outlook ads in inbox.\" width=\"479\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Premium.png 598w, https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2017\/09\/Outlook-com-Premium-300x98.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 479px) 100vw, 479px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Outlook.com Premium WITH Custom Email Domain:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Create&nbsp;a new personalized email address with custom email domain.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tip:<\/strong>&nbsp;You can also use your own domain if you already own one.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tip:<\/strong>&nbsp;If you don&#8217;t have your own domain, you can wait or &#8220;skip&#8221; when you sign up for Premium and choose an email domain in the future.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tip:<\/strong> You can<\/li>\n<li>Ideal for a group (5) of people that all want to use the same email domain.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Annual subscription:<\/strong>&nbsp;$30\/year + tax <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">for first year only<\/span>. Then $45\/year + tax to&nbsp;renew domain.
