Today, I powered on the device, and started with setting up my device to be a workstation again. I realized in hindsight that I should of done the typical &#8220;Kelly thing&#8221; and created a thorough checklist of all the programs and settings I had customized over the years to setup the device.<\/p>\n<p>Here is my personal list of the top 12 recommendations I&#8217;d suggest to a user to setup, download, or install to get going:<u><\/u><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Setup the Windows 10 operating system.<\/li>\n<li>Setup the OneNote App for Windows 10.\n<ul>\n<li><em>The Windows 10 operating system comes with the OneNote App so that was the first App I logged into with my Microsoft account so I could access my notes, links, and passwords.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Setup Edge browser.<\/li>\n<li>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/chrome\/browser\/desktop\/index.html?utm_source=bing&amp;utm_medium=sem&amp;utm_campaign=1001342%7cChromeWin10%7cGLOBAL%7cen%7cHybrid%7cText%7cBKWS~TopKWDS-Exact&amp;brand=CHBF&amp;utm_source=bing&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=1001342%20%7C%20Chrome%20Win10%20%7C%20GLOBAL%20%7C%20en%20%7C%20Hybrid%20%7C%20Text%20%7C%20BKWS%20~%20Top%20KWDS%20-%20Exact&amp;utm_term=chrome&amp;utm_content=Chrome%20-%20Exact&amp;dclid=COCt8_KT39UCFcORfgodwiADEQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chrome browser<\/a><i><\/i>\n<ul>\n<li><i>This is the browser I prefer to use &#8211; especially because of it&#8217;s People feature.&nbsp;<\/i><\/li>\n<li><em>Use the Chrome browser instructions to set it as your default browser.&nbsp;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><i><\/i>Setup a <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/chrome\/answer\/2364824?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&amp;hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">second People profile in Chrome<\/a> to keep my Microsoft Account (outlook.com) and my Office 365 Account (oh365eh) separate.<\/li>\n<li>Login to <a href=\"https:\/\/login.microsoftonline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft Office 365<\/a> to set your time zone and download the Office 2016 software.<\/li>\n<li>Install <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techsmith.com\/screen-capture.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TechSmith Snagit 13<\/a> Screen Capture Software &amp; Screen Recorder\n<ul>\n<li><em>Did you know that you can use Snagit to create GIFS!<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Install <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techsmith.com\/video-editor.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TechSmith Camtasia<\/a>&nbsp;Video Editor &amp; Video Editing Software\n<ul>\n<li><em>Why tell someone with typed words when you can show them with a video.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Download <a href=\"https:\/\/get.adobe.com\/reader\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adobe Acrobat Reader DX<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Change your default PDF reader program to Adobe from Edge.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Install the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/onenote-web-clipper\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;OneNote Web Clipper&#8221;<\/a>&nbsp;add-in extension into Chrome.\n<ul>\n<li><em>This add-in is best for clipping full articles.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Install the <a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/send-to-onenote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Send to OneNote&#8221;<\/a> add-in extension for Chrome.\n<ul>\n<li><em>This add-in is best for small snippets of text.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Install <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spotify.com\/ca-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spotify<\/a>&nbsp;digital music service.\n<ul>\n<li><em>Access and stream millions of songs while you work.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>What tip would you add to this list?<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I received an amazing parting gift from itgroove to thank me for my four years of service&nbsp; &#8211; they gave me my Surface Pro 3 device.
