I joined Alec for the initial session, as well as Sean for the follow up session, then delivered a few 1-1 sessions on my own. In the end, they invited us to work with them to\u00a0create them a Project Management system in\u00a0SharePoint Online.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Who is\u00a0M&#8217;akola?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/makoladevelopment.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">M\u2019akola Development Services<\/a> (MDS) is\u00a0a professional consulting firm with Indigenous roots that is committed to supporting vibrant, diverse communities. Located\u00a0in Langford, British Columbia, Canada, their focus is on property development and property management services for over thirty affordable housing projects for aboriginal and non-aboriginal clients.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The M&#8217;akola Intranet<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>itgroove shared some project milestones we&#8217;ve reached with helping M&#8217;akola Development Services adopt Microsoft Business Cloud technologies to run their organization in\u00a0our <a href=\"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/whats-new-itgroove-march-2017\/\">March\u00a02017 video Newsletter<\/a>. These included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The setup of a Intranet on\u00a0SharePoint Online as the go-to place\u00a0for staff to look for information.<\/li>\n<li>Creation of Team Sites, Project Sites, and Archives to keep information\u00a0organized and secure.<\/li>\n<li>Custom branding to make the Intranet feel like home.<\/li>\n<li>Changes to the User Interface to improve navigation between Site Collections and make the User Experience more intuitive.<\/li>\n<li>A successful migration of their Content to OneDrive for Business and SharePoint from Dropbox.<\/li>\n<li>Multiple end-user and Power User coaching sessions.<\/li>\n<li>Ongoing support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Custom Intranet Enhancements<\/h2>\n<p>What I love about SharePoint Intranet projects is that although our clients are special, generally, their needs are not unique. The components listed above are all pretty standard requirements for businesses and organizations that need an Intranet to store organizational, department, and project files.<\/p>\n<p>However, after the standard steps were complete, we focused on additional custom enhancements to help\u00a0streamline processes that were special to the way they operate, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Home Page Dashboard &#8211; including Hot Links, Pinned Sites, and Resource Calendar.<\/li>\n<li>Project Inventory &#8211;\u00a0a\u00a0birds eye view\u00a0of the status of their various active projects.<\/li>\n<li>Lightbox Navigation &#8211;\u00a0easily\u00a0navigate between Active Project Sites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My favourite custom enhancement that we created especially for M&#8217;akola was the Lightbox Navigation.
