Here are two recent examples of work we&#8217;ve done to get things working for LABC:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The LABC Public Website<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>One of the most interesting parts of working with the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia for me was learning about how we as citizens can get engaged in the provincial political process. The more I explore the\u00a0LABC public website, the more I\u00a0discover our Legislature. The\u00a0LABC public website offers a wealth of information\u00a0for political novices and subject matter experts &#8211; and its new, search-driven, responsive design makes\u00a0locating information quick, despite the site containing over 200,000 pages of content, and having the content team publishing\u00a0hundreds of updates daily.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Fun Fact:<\/strong> Did you know that you can\u00a0access\u00a0digitized transcripts dating back to 1972 through the\u00a0LABC public website?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.bc.ca\/\">LABC website<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The LABC Consultations Portal<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Learning about the parliamentary process and history of our provincial government is a great first step to engagement. The next step is to make sure your voice is heard.<\/p>\n<p>The Committees that make up the Parliament give citizens the opportunity to share their views in a number of ways. Before making decisions,\u00a0Committee members go out across BC and talk to the citizens to engage with them on the topics that matter in their community.<\/p>\n<p>In the past, people and organizations could upload their\u00a0written submissions to the\u00a0government committee through the\u00a0LABC public website. Now, with the addition of the new Consultations Portal that itgroove built for LABC, the public can do the following through the public site:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upload a\u00a0written submission.<\/li>\n<li>Upload a video submission.<\/li>\n<li>Register to appear at a public hearing. *<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>\u00a0* Not all Consultations include\u00a0a public hearing component.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For LABC staff, the new Consultations Portal has sped up the review\u00a0and processing of Consultation request submissions through automation.<\/p>\n<p>For BC citizens, the\u00a0newly designed Share Your Views submission form is official, yet lightweight, to encourage citizens to engage and make their voice heard without a\u00a0tedious, laborious, process.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Fun Fact:<\/strong> Did you know that LABC can receive over 5,000 submission requests from citizens in a single day to engage in\u00a0the political process?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.bc.ca\/content-committees\/Pages\/Share-Your-Views.aspx\">Share Your Views page<\/a> on the LABC website to check out Open, Closed, and Recent Consultations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To see images from these two projects, check out our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/whats-new-itgroove-february-2017\/\">February 2017 video Newsletter<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m really proud that our team at itgroove is helping\u00a0the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia with various projects and initiatives to increase citizen engagement\u00a0in our province using technology solutions.
