So there are a few confused (and slightly frustrated)<\/em> folks in my office today.\u00a0 “X Notebook was updated by X Person” email notifications started arriving without warning. What’s interesting is the notifications are not arriving for every Notebook, and are not arriving\u00a0in “real time”. I started noticing when received a few email notifications about\u00a0changes to the shared\u00a0“OneNote Community Notebook<\/a>”\u00a0that my fellow OneNote MVP, Marjolein Hoekstra<\/a>, created and manages. Personally, I was delighted to receive the note as I often forget to check in to see if there’s anything new to review.<\/div>\n

I poked around for a\u00a0public announcement, but haven’t\u00a0seen anything in the OneNote Office blogs.<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I think this new feature is AMAZING<\/strong> and I hope it sticks around!\u00a0I\u00a0am very excited\u00a0that I can now subscribe to a Notebook to see when others make changes to it. In the past there were still ways to see what changes were made in a Notebook\u00a0since the last time you were in the notebook, but you had to use OneNote 2013 or OneNote 2016 and\u00a0it required a user to\u00a0manual check. Here’s how:<\/div>\n

  1. Whenever you see a Notebook title, Section title, or Page title in bold<\/strong>, that means there’s something “unread” for you to review. Anything unread is highlighted in green.<\/li>\n
  2. There is “Recent Edits”<\/strong> button in the History Tab<\/strong> to see a list of changes sorted\u00a0by date modified or by author or by section or by title.<\/li>\n
  3. There is a “Mark Notebook as Read<\/strong>” button that allows you to get rid of all the green highlight with one click, hidden in a dropdown menu below the\u00a0“Mark as Read<\/strong>” button in the History Tab.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n
    For those of you who do not want to see any of these email notifications -or- want to change your subscription to only see email notifications for some of the notebooks, my colleague, boss, \u00a0and fellow MVP, Sean Wallbridge<\/a>, wrote this blog post: “How to Stop Notifications from OneNote on updated content<\/a>“<\/div>\n

    For those that want the how-to\u00a0steps in a nutshell:<\/div>\n
      \n
    1. Click on the button at the very bottom that says unsubscribe.<\/li>\n
    2. To stop ALL notifications – Check the box that says unsubscribe.\u00a0Press Save.<\/li>\n
    3. To stop SOME notifications – check and uncheck the checkboxes beside the Notebooks of your choice. Press Save.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n
