Are you having trouble when you try to create a full width Hero Web Part<\/strong> in a SharePoint Communication Site<\/a>? Don’t worry, you don’t have to create a brand new Communication Site to get it back.<\/p>\n

This might be the scenario:<\/h4>\n

Gee, those new Communication Sites in SharePoint look swell… check out that full width Hero Web Part!<\/em><\/p>\n

Let’s create one from scratch by clicking on the plus sign symbol, then selecting the Hero Web Part.<\/em><\/p>\n

Hmm, that’s not full width…<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ok, not a problem, I’ll just change the settings\/Layout options. Wait, there’s no option to make this Hero Web Part full width. Where could it be?<\/em><\/p>\n

That’s right, of course it’s not the Web Part itself but its container that dictates the column width. I’ll just edit the column, then…<\/em><\/p>\n

Where’s the option to make my Hero Web Part full width? Shouldn’t it be here? What do I do now?<\/em><\/p>\n

Yep, not so user friendly…<\/p>\n

How to Create a Full Width Hero Web Part in a SharePoint Online Communication Site<\/h2>\n

Here’s the secret.<\/strong> If you want to add your own full width Hero Web Part, you’ll have to specify that you want a full-width section before<\/em> you put the web part in it.<\/p>\n

Hover on the dotted line after your section, then click on the plus sign on the left to add a new section.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Then, choose Full-width column<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Next, you should see the option to choose between an Image<\/strong> or a Hero Web Part<\/strong>. Click on the Hero<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
