The world is running out of IP Addresses and according to some, it happened 2+ years ago.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Meh.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But, IPv6 is coming and of course, Windows for a long time now has had native support for it. The challenge is, with DNS registrations, quite often you\u2019ll get the IPv6 response from a ping, rather than the IPv4 you\u2019d like. Such as this\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/02\/SNAGHTML3ae598f9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border: 0px\" title=\"SNAGHTML3ae598f9\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/02\/SNAGHTML3ae598f9_thumb.png\" alt=\"SNAGHTML3ae598f9\" width=\"244\" height=\"91\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The fix is simple\u2026 the Ping command has had v4 and v6 capabilities for a while now\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/02\/clip_image004.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px;padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border: 0px\" title=\"clip_image004\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/02\/clip_image004_thumb.gif\" alt=\"clip_image004\" width=\"240\" height=\"128\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So if you aren\u2019t getting the response you expect, simply do the following:<\/p>\n<div id=\"codeSnippetWrapper\">\n<div id=\"codeSnippet\">\n<pre><span id=\"lnum1\" style=\"color: #606060\">   1:<\/span> Ping Host_Name -4<\/pre>\n<p><!--CRLF--><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/02\/SNAGHTML3ae5da9a.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border: 0px\" title=\"SNAGHTML3ae5da9a\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/02\/SNAGHTML3ae5da9a_thumb.png\" alt=\"SNAGHTML3ae5da9a\" width=\"244\" height=\"121\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oh gawd.
