The following are recommendations from itgroove<\/a> for Server (virtual or physical plant) Best Practices. Customers may not always listen or have the budget, but it won\u2019t stop us from trying to protect them\u2026<\/p>\n

  1. Redundant Power Supplies<\/strong> \u2013 protect yourself against a single point of failure<\/li>\n
  2. UPS<\/strong> \u2013 (Uninterruptable Power Supply) don\u2019t count on your electric company to shut down your equipment \u2018gently\u2019<\/li>\n
  3. RAID<\/strong> – (redundant disk arrays) and a hot spare drive<\/li>\n
  4. Good Backups<\/strong> \u2013 system and application level software and offsite storage<\/li>\n
  5. Leave Room for Scalability<\/strong> – Don\u2019t max out the server day 1. Allow for additions\/scaling, a server jammed with RAM or disk has no room to grow, rapidly to adjust to your needs<\/li>\n
