The image below illustrates a site that has the publishing feature enabled (thus the Publishing Approval workflow is there) but it does not have the SharePoint 2010 Approval, Collect Feedback or Collect Signatures workflows available.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border: 0px\" title=\"image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image_thumb6.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"240\" height=\"92\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To activate the feature, go into site settings in your site collection and choose \u201cSite Collection Features\u201d.\u00a0 Activate the \u201cWorkflows\u201d Feature.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border: 0px\" title=\"image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image_thumb7.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"507\" height=\"32\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once activated, you should see your available (out of the box) workflows available to your library:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px;padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border: 0px\" title=\"image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image_thumb8.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"244\" height=\"87\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Create a Collect Feedback Workflow (or several, based on any specific requirements) for your Document Library<\/h4>\n<p>In your library settings, choose Workflow Settings, Add a workflow<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image11.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border: 0px\" title=\"image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image_thumb9.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"333\" height=\"146\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This post won\u2019t be about all the available settings you can define but rather seeks to help you get a simple process up and going quickly.\u00a0 So for now, I want a manually started (started by a person) workflow that will collect feedback from the colleagues that I choose.\u00a0 So the following screens outline my choices.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image12.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border: 0px\" title=\"image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image_thumb10.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"580\" height=\"304\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the reviewers section, I\u2019ve opted not to set who it is assigned to in my workflow, as I can do that when each workflow is initiated. But sometimes I like to have these fields predefined, if it should be the same people involved in the process.<\/p>\n<p>Note, the \u201corder choices are Serial or Parallel\u201d.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Serial<\/strong> \u2013 this means a task is assigned to the first person and when they complete their task, the document workflow will be forwarded to the next person. This is almost always my preference.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Parallel<\/strong> \u2013 if you hate your colleagues, use this option. Nothing better than 4 of you getting sent a task to open and comment on a document, only to find out that only one of you can work on it (unless of course you have Office 2010 and coauthoring \u2026 but that is for a different post).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image13.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border: 0px\" title=\"image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image_thumb11.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"439\" height=\"349\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Ok, I\u2019ve got a Collect Feedback Workflow.\u00a0 How do I launch it?<\/h4>\n<p>Good stuff.\u00a0 You could launch it right now for a document\u2026 Simply click on the context menu of the document and choose \u201cWorkflows\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image14.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border: 0px\" title=\"image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image_thumb12.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"552\" height=\"218\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then choose your shiny new workflow and kick it off.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image15.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border: 0px\" title=\"image\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/08\/image_thumb13.png\" alt=\"image\" width=\"475\" height=\"295\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>But Sean, that isn\u2019t sexy enough\u2026<\/h4>\n<p>Ok, buttercup, if I had a little more time today, I\u2019d add a little more to this particular burrito (I think I\u2019m also getting hungry).
