{"id":1337,"date":"2012-07-27T08:42:49","date_gmt":"2012-07-27T15:42:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.brainlitter.com\/?p=1337"},"modified":"2012-07-27T08:42:49","modified_gmt":"2012-07-27T15:42:49","slug":"synching-outlook-tasks-with-the-iphone-and-icloud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/brainlitter\/2012\/07\/27\/synching-outlook-tasks-with-the-iphone-and-icloud\/","title":{"rendered":"Synching Outlook Tasks with the iPhone and iCloud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I wanted to synchronize my iPhone with my Outlook Tasks (that exist within our Exchange Server at the office).\u00a0 I noticed a number of APPS in the App Store that had some really poor ratings (crap, abandoned, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>Then looking in the Apple Forums, I noticed a bunch of folks whining about how it didn\u2019t work\/couldn\u2019t be done.\u00a0 However, I\u2019m happy to report that it works fine for me, if you know what you are looking for.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I think in the end, the disconnect for me early on was that the App is called \u201cReminders\u201d. Not Tasks, not To-Do\u2019s. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a great app name considering its purpose is primarily about managing tasks (there is already a calendar) but now that I see that, I\u2019ll live and move on <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile\" style=\"border-style: none\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/07\/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile5.png\" alt=\"Winking smile\" \/><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Recipe<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Outlook (in my case 2010)<\/li>\n<li>Exchange Server (2010) though I don\u2019t see why a standalone POP3 setup wouldn\u2019t work<\/li>\n<li>iPhone 4s<\/li>\n<li>Desktop of some kind (in my case Windows 7)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What You Need<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>You need the Reminders App in your iPhone (in mine, it was already there, not an app in the app store I had to download).\u00a0 I don\u2019t recall when I saw this arrive but probably with iOS5 and I\u2019m too lazy to go check <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-winkingsmile\" style=\"border-style: none\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/07\/wlEmoticon-winkingsmile5.png\" alt=\"Winking smile\" \/><\/li>\n<li>The iCloud software (if you don\u2019t want to use iTunes, which would install this for you). No, you don\u2019t need iTunes (I\u2019m not a fan either) &#8211; <a title=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/icloud\/setup\/pc.html\" href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/icloud\/setup\/pc.html\">http:\/\/www.apple.com\/icloud\/setup\/pc.html<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Tick the box in iCloud to enable synchronizing Calendars &amp; Tasks<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/07\/SNAGHTML96fbe41.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border-width: 0px\" title=\"SNAGHTML96fbe41\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/brainlitter\/2012\/07\/SNAGHTML96fbe41_thumb.png\" alt=\"SNAGHTML96fbe41\" width=\"431\" height=\"325\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Um, Is that it?<\/h3>\n<p>Yep. That\u2019s it. At least for me.
