{"id":829,"date":"2017-04-13T22:19:46","date_gmt":"2017-04-13T22:19:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/itgroove.net\/kinglou\/?p=829"},"modified":"2023-02-24T21:39:32","modified_gmt":"2023-02-24T21:39:32","slug":"office-documents-not-opening-in-chrome-in-sharepoint-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/2017\/04\/13\/office-documents-not-opening-in-chrome-in-sharepoint-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Office documents not opening in Chrome in SharePoint Online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Office documents not opening in Chrome in SharePoint Online<\/p>\n<p>I tried all the normal repairing office, uninstalling\/reinstalling, resetting to defaults.<\/p>\n<p>First I went to set default programs and reset it to defaults.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/1.png\" alt=\"Set Default programs\" width=\"766\" height=\"651\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In this case the protocol wasn\u2019t set by default, this didn\u2019t fix chrome, but it fixed IE.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/2.png\" alt=\"Set associations for program\" width=\"443\" height=\"433\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I logged into the computer with a different profile and when I tried to open a word doc in Chrome I got the prompt I was missing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/3.png\" alt=\"prompt not opening\" width=\"458\" height=\"206\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now to reset this option in chrome so it would work on her profile delete or rename the &#8220;local state&#8221; file in<br \/>\n<strong>Users -&gt; (users profile name) -&gt; AppData -&gt; Local -&gt; Google -&gt; Chrome -&gt; User Data<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><em><strong>*its hidden<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/04\/4.png\" alt=\"Reset option in Chrome\" width=\"322\" height=\"261\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>I was also getting a connection issue when opening the word docs, but that was a networking issue where the network adaptor said it didn\u2019t have internet (yellow triangle), but internet was working so browsing to SharePoint online was getting confused. A TCP\/IP reset, ipconfig flush \/ registerdns fixed that all up.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>&#8220;We are unable to connect right now.
