The first problem was creating the contact. Office 365 wouldn&#8217;t let me create a contact with a plus (+) sign in the external email address, a structure of the yammer address.<\/p>\n<p>Error: <strong>Not a valid SMTP address<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/yam1.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/yam1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-388 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/yam1.jpg\" alt=\"Configuring Office 365 Contacts to email to a Yammer Group\" width=\"553\" height=\"444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/yam1.jpg 553w, https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/yam1-300x241.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 553px) 100vw, 553px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Luckily for us we are hybrid so went to the Admin Exchange portion and created a <strong>Mail User<\/strong> which would allow a plus sign. The error suggested:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The email address you specified couldn&#8217;t be found or is invalid. It may be due to a bad entry in your Outlook or Outlook Web App recipient AutoComplete cache. Use the steps below to delete the entry from the cache:<\/p>\n<p>1) Click <strong>New mail<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>2) In the <strong>To<\/strong> field start typing the recipient&#8217;s name or email address until the recipient appears in the drop-down list.<\/p>\n<p>3) Use the DOWN ARROW and UP ARROW keys to select the recipient, and then press the <strong>DELETE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Then resend your message \u2013 delete and retype the recipient\u2019s name or e-mail address before sending it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Even after doing that and updating my address book and waiting a full day I would still receive the NDR. The full fix was to not only delete the AutoComplete cache, but go into my contacts and find it and delete it there as well.
