It would complain that the service wasn&#8217;t running and indeed they weren&#8217;t. Both <strong>Windows Azure Active Directory Sync Service<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Forefront Identity Manger Synchronization Service<\/strong> would no longer start.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/dir1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-355 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/dir1.jpg\" alt=\"DirSync FIMSynchronizationService logon failure\" width=\"762\" height=\"373\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Trying to start the service would give me a logon failure warning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/dir2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-356\" src=\"http:\/\/kinglou.itgroove.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2014\/11\/dir2.jpg\" alt=\"dir2\" width=\"426\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/dir2.jpg 426w, https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/dir2-300x142.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 426px) 100vw, 426px\" \/> <\/a><\/p>\n<p>After doing some searching I found this was usually due to SQL updates being applied. I had recently installed SQL 2014 Management Studio to manage the WSUS database that was also on that server. The server had also just been updated with some of them being SQL. I figured the two had to be connected, but I didn&#8217;t want to uninstall the updates as that would get annoying to remember.
