{"id":2466,"date":"2015-02-11T19:53:21","date_gmt":"2015-02-11T19:53:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebeagle.itgroove.net\/?p=2022"},"modified":"2023-02-24T21:39:47","modified_gmt":"2023-02-24T21:39:47","slug":"office-365-free-non-profit-and-charity-licensing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/2015\/02\/11\/office-365-free-non-profit-and-charity-licensing\/","title":{"rendered":"Office 365 \u2013 \u201cFree\u201d Non Profit and Charity Licensing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has done a \u201creally good thing\u201d with their \u201cFree for Nonprofits\u201d program that provides Office 365 subscriptions (across all of the subscription plan models) for free or for a significant discount to qualifying non-profits.\u00a0 I really want to focus on the \u201cfor free\u201d wording as it is very significant.<\/p>\n<p>Many vendors provide discount pricing to non-profits and charities through venues such as TechSoup.org and I commend all of them for doing so.\u00a0 It is hard enough to keep a non-profit or a charity running day-to-day without facing large software bills.\u00a0 Non-profit and charity pricing programs help to soften the blow and Microsoft has long been in that space with licensing programs and offers that are tailored to non-profits.\u00a0 But the Office 365 program truly raises the bar!<\/p>\n<p>If you have ever worked with a non-profit or a charity you will probably be painfully aware of how hard it is to raise funds for infrastructure. It is one thing to find money for software, it is quite another to find it for hardware for the software to run on.\u00a0 Budgets just never seem to line up the way they need to.\u00a0 So many non-profits and charities stumble along on ancient, outdated and even unreliable gear.\u00a0 It\u2019s sad, really.\u00a0 That\u2019s why I\u2019m so excited about this offering from Microsoft.<\/p>\n<p>Non-profits and charities can reap all of the advantages of the Cloud including NOT having to lay out money for hardware AND possibly qualify for truly \u201cfree\u201d licensing through the program.\u00a0 Honestly, I can\u2019t understand why there isn\u2019t a stampede to Microsoft\u2019s door on this one.<\/p>\n<p>The information about the program is available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/about\/corporatecitizenship\/en-us\/office365-for-nonprofits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>, it is well worth your while if you are a non-profit or a charity (or you know of one that could benefit) to check out the offering.\u00a0\u00a0 Every once in awhile the big corporate guys do something that is truly worthy and I think this program is one of those worthy things.\u00a0 Good on you, Microsoft, well done!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has done a \u201creally good thing\u201d with their \u201cFree for Nonprofits\u201d program that provides Office 365 subscriptions (across all of the subscription plan models) for free or for a significant discount to qualifying non-profits.\u00a0 I really want to focus on the \u201cfor free\u201d wording as it is very significant.
