A paen to Sean and itgroove."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our own <a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/oh365eh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kelly Marshall<\/a> was awarded OneNote MVP on October 1st.\u00a0 That brought the MVP count in the company to 5 which is precisely one-half (50%) of our staff count.\u00a0 It strikes me that is pretty unique.\u00a0 I know there are one or two consulting shops in the US that are staffed 100% with MVP\u2019s but those are the exception to the rule.\u00a0 Most MVP\u2019s are a count of 1 in their organization; we are a count of 5.\u00a0 That is pretty amazing.\u00a0 (And that doesn\u2019t count the one former staff member who also was awarded his MVP during his time with us, that would have made 60% of the staff as MVP\u2019s if he had stayed with us.)<\/p>\n<p>If you were to ask <em>how<\/em> we ended up with half of our staff becoming MVP\u2019s I would have to point you at two things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First, I would point you at Sean Wallbridge, our president and fearless leader.\u00a0 Sean is many things but most of all he is <em>passionate<\/em>!\u00a0 He is passionate about his company, he is passionate about SharePoint (now <em>there\u2019s<\/em> and understatement), he is passionate about enabling his people and he is passionate about sharing.\u00a0 He was our first MVP and he sets the bar and the example and he challenges all of us to meet or beat his example.\u00a0 If Sean wasn\u2019t as passionate as he is I doubt that any of us would be MVP\u2019s; it is his passion that \u201cinfects\u201d us all and helps drive us to the next level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Second, I would point you to the collaborative spirit that drives the company.\u00a0 I have worked in many different environments but never have I worked in one that is as collaborative (and a wee bit competitive) as what we have in itgroove.\u00a0 We all truly share in each other\u2019s successes (and failures) and all of us are keen on sharing our knowledge and expertise with a forum that is larger than just the 10 of us in the office.\u00a0 Sean encourages all of us to blog, post videos, be involved in user groups \u2026 the list goes on.\u00a0 The mantra is \u201csharing is caring\u201d and it is oh so true.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I know there sometimes is a perception that MVP\u2019s are a \u201cmouthpiece\u201d for Microsoft and while it <em>is <\/em>true that we are an evangelical lot I can say, pretty unequivocally, that we are <em>not <\/em>another Microsoft \u201cPR\u201d channel!\u00a0 Believe me, there are many people inside Microsoft that are more than a little singed and crispy about the edges due to the combined wrath of MVP\u2019s who feel Microsoft has messed up or otherwise \u201clet down the troops\u201d on any number of issues.\u00a0 If anything, MVP\u2019s are the general user population\u2019s \u201cmouthpiece\u201d back to Microsoft, relaying all the things that need to be relayed to the \u201cpowers that be\u201d from \u201cthe real world\u201d.\u00a0 It is an interesting position to be in and we at itgroove have a large stake in it all.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you that are thinking about trying for MVP I urge you to do so.\u00a0 It is very rewarding to be acknowledged by your peers (your peers certainly have some say in the process) and you can have an opportunity to effect real change within the Microsoft community.\u00a0 And if you are a tech firm looking at how to hit the \u201cbig bang\u201d like we did I can only suggest that you emulate what Sean has done as that is the key to it all.\u00a0 Sharing <em>is <\/em>caring!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our own Kelly Marshall was awarded OneNote MVP on October 1st.\u00a0 That brought the MVP count in the company to 5 which is precisely one-half (50%) of our staff count.\u00a0 It strikes me that is pretty unique.\u00a0 I know there are one or two consulting shops in the US that are staffed 100% with MVP\u2019s &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/2014\/10\/03\/50-of-itgroove-staff-are-mvps-a-paen-to-sean-and-itgroove\/\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":2094,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[239],"tags":[125],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.0 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>50% of itgroove staff are MVP\u2019s!
