After some researching it looked pretty painless so I forged forward.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Pretty standard MS wizard install.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e11f53.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"SNAGHTMLb3e11f53\" src=\"http:\/\/kinglou.itgroove.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e11f53_thumb.png\" alt=\"Windows Server 2012 Upgrade to Server 2012 R2\" width=\"663\" height=\"498\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Going online to get updates worked fine, I have had instances where it caused issues, but not this time.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e2580f.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"SNAGHTMLb3e2580f\" src=\"http:\/\/kinglou.itgroove.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e2580f_thumb.png\" alt=\"Windows Server 2012 Upgrade to Server 2012 R2\" width=\"663\" height=\"501\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Selected my version.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e4ba4b.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"SNAGHTMLb3e4ba4b\" src=\"http:\/\/kinglou.itgroove.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e4ba4b_thumb.png\" alt=\"Windows Server 2012 Upgrade to Server 2012 R2\" width=\"663\" height=\"499\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">It gave me the option to Upgrade so I took it!<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e59d2a.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"SNAGHTMLb3e59d2a\" src=\"http:\/\/kinglou.itgroove.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e59d2a_thumb.png\" alt=\"Windows Server 2012 Upgrade to Server 2012 R2\" width=\"663\" height=\"499\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">It wouldn\u2019t be a MS install if I didn\u2019t fail at least one compatibility check and have to reboot at least once. In this case it was minor and a reboot fixed all.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e79a0e.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"SNAGHTMLb3e79a0e\" src=\"http:\/\/kinglou.itgroove.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e79a0e_thumb.png\" alt=\"SNAGHTMLb3e79a0e\" width=\"663\" height=\"499\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Restarted and I\u2019m moving forward to the boiler plate install warning.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e8c6b9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"SNAGHTMLb3e8c6b9\" src=\"http:\/\/kinglou.itgroove.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e8c6b9_thumb.png\" alt=\"SNAGHTMLb3e8c6b9\" width=\"663\" height=\"499\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">And I\u2019m off!<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e96a38.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"SNAGHTMLb3e96a38\" src=\"http:\/\/kinglou.itgroove.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb3e96a38_thumb.png\" alt=\"SNAGHTMLb3e96a38\" width=\"663\" height=\"498\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">And boom, after a few reboots later I\u2019m on an upgrade 2012 R2 server install.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb497d482.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"SNAGHTMLb497d482\" src=\"http:\/\/kinglou.itgroove.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb497d482_thumb.png\" alt=\"SNAGHTMLb497d482\" width=\"664\" height=\"100\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Now onto see if everything worked, fist issue is Activation. The server is no longer activated, but I guess I should of seen this one coming. It didn\u2019t like my 2012 key (Obv) so I plumbed in an R2 one and it was happy, Next!<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Server Manager is complaining about its refreshes. saying <strong><em>\u201cThe system cannot access one or more event logs because of insufficient access right, file corruption, or other reasons\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb49eb169.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"SNAGHTMLb49eb169\" src=\"http:\/\/kinglou.itgroove.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb49eb169_thumb.png\" alt=\"SNAGHTMLb49eb169\" width=\"664\" height=\"201\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The fix to this one for me was as follows. Fire up Regedit and go to\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionWINEVTChannels<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nOnce there backup the registry key (just in case) <strong>DXPTaskRingTone\/Analytic<\/strong> and then delete it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb4a28af5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"SNAGHTMLb4a28af5\" src=\"http:\/\/kinglou.itgroove.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb4a28af5_thumb.png\" alt=\"SNAGHTMLb4a28af5\" width=\"664\" height=\"125\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Refresh the Server Manager and it should be all clean again. (thanks! <a href=\"http:\/\/social.technet.microsoft.com\/Forums\/en-US\/a2e1784b-1401-49d5-bd84-afc6c251890e\/automatic-refresh-error\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">source<\/a>). Finally I did a few rounds of updates a few reboots and everything was green across the board.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/regroove.ca\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb4b2a604.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"SNAGHTMLb4b2a604\" src=\"http:\/\/kinglou.itgroove.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2014\/05\/SNAGHTMLb4b2a604_thumb.png\" alt=\"SNAGHTMLb4b2a604\" width=\"664\" height=\"184\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">All in all this was a pretty smooth upgrade, thanks Microsoft for making my life a little easier.
