I am the first to admit I don\u2019t have an \u201ceye\u201d.\u00a0 I take a lousy photograph (poor composition), I\u2019m probably colour blind (or at least colour agnostic), I can\u2019t work a graphics editor to save my soul, and I\u2019m so text-oriented that younger colleagues \u201cpity\u201d me.\u00a0 Let\u2019s face it, I\u2019m an old white guy with all the lack of \u201conline presentation\u201d skills that implies.<\/p>\n
So, why does my blog design look so nice and crisp?\u00a0 And, for that matter, why do all of the blogs on itgroove.net and our overall website look so good?\u00a0 Well, the secret is one hell of a talented graphics guy, our own Matt Longpre.\u00a0 I\u2019ll admit to thinking Sean was nuts when he hired Matt and I\u2019ll also admit to not really understanding the whole design \u201clingo\u201d that surrounds all of our various web-oriented projects (hey, I\u2019m a plumber not an artist).\u00a0 But I now \u201cget it\u201d and Sean, you were brilliant, not nuts.<\/p>\n
Great graphics design makes the whole online experience better.\u00a0 Great design helps make your point.\u00a0 Great design can make a graphical bumpkin like me look \u201cpolished\u201d (a feat unto itself, let me tell you).\u00a0 I see on a daily basis what a difference great design makes and I now have a better understanding of how managing all <\/em>aspects of the visual experience can improve how knowledge is imparted over a graphical medium.\u00a0 There is skill and artistry required to do the job, and more than a little soul.<\/p>\n So thanks, Matt!\u00a0 I appreciate all your efforts and I\u2019m thankful that you have saved me from some of my more stylistic blunders online (the first few cracks at theming my blog were pretty hideous).
