I figured I&#8217;d share this collection with the world.  Some of these were meant more for SP2010, and SQL 2008 \/ R2, but many of them should still apply to SQL 2012 and SP2013. To do this, click Library in the ribbon and change the Current View to All Documents.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:white\">Select the workbook or report for which you want to refresh the thumbnail image.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:white\">Click the down arrow to the right, and then select Edit Properties.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color:white\">Click Save. Ensure Excel services is rendering workbooks.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:white\">2. Internet Explorer 9 is not installed. Revert to IE8.  &#8212; IF on IE9 and cannot revert, see below to work-around this.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 27pt\"><span style=\"color:white\">Also be sure IE7 is not installed on the server &#8211; if so, upgrade to IE8.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:white\">3. Ensure SQL 2008 R2 SP1 for PowerPivot for SharePoint is installed.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:white\">4. Test to see that getsnapshot.exe is being spawned (by checking task manager)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:white\">5. Try running GetSnapshot.exe manually.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:white\">6. Ensure the workbook contains embedded PowerPivot data<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:white\">7. Ensure the workbook does not contain more than one data source.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:white\">8. Ensure the file is an .xlsx file.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:white\">9. Verify Alternate Access Mappings are setup correctly.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:white\">10. Add the PowerPivot site to the trusted intranet sites, and ensure you do this for the account running Getsnapshot.exe (most likely your content access account).<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:white\">11. snapshotToolExecutionMask)     at Microsoft.AnalysisServices.SharePoint.Integration.SnapshotExtraction.ExtractSnapshots(SnapshotExecutionContext context)     at Microsoft.AnalysisServices.SharePoint.Integration.SnapshotHandler.CaptureSnapshot(ListItemInfo itemInfo, WorkbookConnections connections)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 27pt\">\n<p style=\"margin-left: 27pt\"><span style=\"color:white\"><strong>The error 1058 can have as a root cause the fact the Windows service &#8220;Secondary Logon&#8221; Our company&#8217;s group policy was the issue.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 27pt\"><span style=\"color:white\"><strong>The fix*: <\/strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 27pt\"><span style=\"color:white\">1) add a trust of the URL of the SharePoint site to the group policy<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 27pt\"><span style=\"color:white\">2) add a trust of the URL of the SharePoint site plus &#8220;:&#8221;+port number  to the group policy<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 27pt\"><span style=\"color:white\">3) then run gpupdate \/force on the back end server after ten minutes.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 27pt\"><span style=\"color:white\">4) Make a change to each PowerPivot workbook in a gallery.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 27pt\"><span style=\"color:white\">*A new error came up w<span style=\"color:#1f497d\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">hen we click on any slicers from any PowerPivot (using various external data sources) we get this Excel error: &#8220;An error occurred during an attempt to establish aconnection to the external data source.
